Football supporters’ and sports team coach hire in Glasgow

Ritaat Coaches provides coaches and minibuses with drivers for supporters’ clubs, amateur and youth teams, and concert groups in Glasgow, Scotland. Hampden, Celtic Park and Ibrox are each about 4 to 5 miles from the city centre, and a Titwood Road bridge near Hampden is only 4.2 m high. We also run away trips across the UK, to Ireland and to continental Europe. Send the fixture for a written quote.

Supporters’ clubs and away days

A supporters’ club books the same kind of trip every few weeks: pick-up at the club’s meeting point, the drive to the ground, a wait during the match and the return. Send us:

  • the fixture, kick-off time and ground;
  • the pick-up point and the number travelling;
  • any coach permit or parking pass the club or police have issued for that match.

Hampden Park: the route depends on your end of the ground

Coach access to Hampden is controlled on big match days, and the route depends on which end your club is allocated. Two published notices show the difference:

  • Via Titwood Road (west). For one Scottish Cup Final, Rangers FC told supporters’ buses to leave the M77 at Junction 1 (Dumbreck), follow Dumbreck Road and Titwood Road, then follow police motorcyclists to bus parking west of the stadium. Club coaches could leave that route only with a Hampden car park pass on display.
  • Via Aikenhead Road (east). Aberdeen FC’s Hampden travel advice (October 2024) sent coaches with a pass to the Purple car park via Aikenhead Road, asked them to arrive no later than 90 minutes before kick-off, and directed coaches without a pass to Calder Street.

The low bridge. The Rangers notice warned of a low bridge on Titwood Road, 4.2 m (13 ft 9 in), with a diversion for taller buses via Haggs Road and Shawmoss Road.

We always follow the notice the club or police issue for your fixture.

Alcohol on football coaches in Scotland

No alcohol on board on the way to or from a football match. Section 19 of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995 makes it an offence to have alcohol on a public service vehicle mainly used to carry passengers to or from a designated sporting event, or to be drunk on one. The same section creates offences for the person who hired the vehicle and for the operator, with a defence for anyone who took all reasonable steps to prevent it.

Which grounds and matches are “designated” is set by order. The current consolidation is the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) (Scotland) Order 2014, which covers senior Scottish football grounds and Scottish clubs’ matches [verify the schedule text before publishing]. In practice, treat every football trip as alcohol-free.

Youth and amateur teams

Youth teams and amateur clubs need room for kit and a driver who knows where the team bus can stop. Tell us the number of players, coaches and parents, the kit (bags, ball bags, medical kit) and whether children are travelling. A small squad fits our minibus: see minibus hire in Glasgow. School sports trips are covered on school trip coach hire.

Concerts and festivals: TRNSMT and the OVO Hydro

  • TRNSMT at Glasgow Green. On festival days, private vehicles cannot get close. Past festival guides listed set drop-off and pick-up points around the park, such as Duke Street at High Street, Caledonia Road, London Road and the Broomielaw [verify for 2027 on the TRNSMT website]. We drop at the agreed point and collect after the last act.
  • OVO Hydro. The SEC says the OVO Hydro drop-off and pick-up zone is at the west of the SEC Centre. We agree a pick-up time after the show and a meeting point the group can find.

Conferences at the SEC are covered on corporate coach hire.

What it costs

The price drivers specific to sport:

  • The wait during the match or show, which counts as driver hours.
  • Late kick-offs and late finishes, because a day is up to 10 hours and extra hours may be charged.
  • Season. Prices differ by season.

Prices from: a 53-seat coach from £1,200 a day, or from £1,500 in peak season. A 16-seat minibus from £375 for an airport pick-up.

Every quote is in writing and lists what is included: fuel, mileage, the driver, road and bridge tolls, standard parking, waiting time during the hire, bottled water and Wi-Fi. Ferry crossings and coach-park or event parking charges are charged at cost and shown on the quote. See the coach hire price guide for how prices are built. All services: our services.

Frequently asked questions

Can you take our supporters’ club to away games?

Yes. We collect from your club’s meeting point, drive to the ground, wait during the match and bring the group home. Send the fixture list and we quote for a single trip or several.

Where do supporters’ coaches park at Hampden?

It depends on which end your club is allocated. For one cup final, Rangers FC sent buses via M77 Junction 1 and Titwood Road to parking west of the stadium; Aberdeen FC sent coaches with a pass to the Purple car park via Aikenhead Road. We follow your fixture’s notice.

Is there a low bridge near Hampden?

Yes. A Rangers FC travel notice warns of a low bridge on Titwood Road, 4.2 m (13 ft 9 in), with a diversion for taller buses via Haggs Road and Shawmoss Road.

Is alcohol allowed on a football coach in Scotland?

No. Section 19 of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995 makes it an offence to have alcohol on a coach mainly used to take passengers to or from a designated sporting event, and the hirer and operator can also be liable. Treat every football trip as alcohol-free.

Can you take a youth team with kit?

Yes. Tell us the number of players, adults and kit bags so we can size the vehicle. A coach has luggage space for kit.

Can you take our group to TRNSMT or a concert at the OVO Hydro?

Yes, as private travel for your own group. We drop off and collect at the points the festival or venue sets, and agree a pick-up time after the last act.
